We all want to show the people that we love exactly how much we love them on Valentine's Day. And what better way to show them than to organize the perfect date? Here are five fun and exciting date ideas in Taipei to make your loved one feel special.

Maokong Gondola - $

A nice ride during the day to get some tea, and very pretty at night. If you are in for a romantic adventure you can take the Maokong Gondola to Zhinan Temple Station. Zhinan Temple is a Taoist Temple with a lot of pretty colors and beautiful red and golden lights. If you visit you'll first have to walk past a beautiful gondola with a golden dragon, onto a small path with trees full of golden wishing cards. As you walk towards the temple you can already smell the incense. The temples are built on the edge of the mountain, giving you spectacular views of Taipei City.

You can also get out at the terminal station, the end of the Maokong Gondola. Here you can find some restaurants, as well as small food stands with amazing snacks and tea houses in which you can experience an elaborate tea ceremony.

Xiangshan Hike - $

Probably the most well-known and one of the most rewarding hikes you can go on in Taipei is Elephant Mountain, or in Chinese 象山 (xiàngshān) On this relatively short and easy-to-find hiking trail, you can enjoy spectacular views of the city and specifically the Taipei 101. Bring your own drinks and snacks and you can sit at the top, enjoy the view and the company ;).

Rooftop Bar - $$

If you like beer, Xinyi is the place to go. On multiple roofs of the shopping malls there, you can find fun rooftop bars. From these bars you can watch the sun set over Taipei or watch the night come to live with the many city lights. Some of the bars are owned by brewery's and sell Taiwan's best beers. At other bars you can enjoy exotic cocktails and take beautiful pictures in the spots that are designed for it.

Taipei Lantern Festival - $

From pretty much the beginning of February, Taipei has been celebrating the lantern festival. You can find a beautiful exhibition of lanterns and artworks all around Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and Xinyi. Take your date for a stroll through one of the parks, admire the artworks and get some ice cream on the way back. A simple but excellent date plan. The exhibition is around until the 19th of February, so no worries if you can't make it there on February 14.

Hot Pot - $$$

There is an incredible amount of hot pot restaurants in Taipei. You have all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurants, shabu shabu (personal hot pot) and more interesting and special hot pot restaurants. All you have to do is type in 'hot pot' or '火鍋' into your Google Maps and you have a ton of options. Pick your restaurant based on preference and vibe. There are a lot of romantic restaurants with dim lights out there, the perfect setting for a date.

What are your plans for Valentine's Day?
